MOLASSES COOKIES (SOFT) 
1 c. sugar
1 c. molasses
1 c. shortening, melted (can use cooking oil)
1 c. hot water (dissolve 1 tbsp. baking soda in it)
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
5 1/2 c. flour (approx.)

Mix in order given. Add flour so they will roll easily. Put mixture in freezer for 2 hours before trying to roll them out. You may want to use a pastry cloth, flour well, roll fairly thick. Cut with large cutters. Bake in a 375 degree oven for approximately 10 minutes. Yield: 5 dozen.
