BROWN BREAD
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
2 c. whole wheat flour
4 tbsp. molasses
1 tsp. salt
as many raisins as desired

Add baking soda to milk, set aside. Mix remaining ingredients except raisins, reserving 1 tablespoon flour. Add milk mixture and mix thoroughly. Stir raisins with reserved flour until separated. Add and stir in well to first mixture. Bake in a small, oblong, deep bread pan, lightly greased, at 300°F. Test for doneness - a knife inserted into the center should come out clean. Should be moist but not soggy.
