BROWN SUGAR NUT BREAD 
3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. walnuts, chopped (or raisins, dates, etc.)
1 1/2 c. buttermilk or sour milk

Sift together flours, baking powder, baking soda and salt thoroughly. Add brown sugar and nuts. Beat in buttermilk or sour milk. Bake in a greased loaf pan for 1 hour at 350°F. Serve with softened cream cheese.

Note: To make sour milk, add 1 1/2 tbsp. vinegar to regular milk and let stand 5 minutes.
