NEVER FAIL DONUTS 
1 c. white sugar
3 tbsp. Crisco
4 eggs
3 tbsp. cider vinegar
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. cinnamon
4 c. cake flour

Combine sugar, eggs, Crisco in electric mixer. Beat on high speed for 2 minutes. Add buttermilk, vinegar, salt. Beat at slow speed for 1/2 minute.

Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder and spices together. Fold in but do not beat. Set in refrigerator overnight.

Next morning, fry in hot oil or Crisco at 375°F.

This will make about 3 dozen doughnuts, cut with a cutter. Do not use donut press.
