STOLEN 
1 c. milk
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1 egg, beaten
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. currants
1 c. (8 oz.) chopped candied fruit

Heat together the milk and shortening until shortening melts. Add the sugar. Dissolve the yeast in warm water. Beat in the egg. In bowl of Kitchen Center (or Kitchen Aid mixer, etc.) put in the flour and salt. Add the liquid ingredients, then add the currants and candied fruit.

Let rise in warm place until doubled. Shape into two loaves and place on a baking sheet that has been sprayed with Pam. Let rise again. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until it sounds hollow in the middle.
