FLAMING BOURBON PUNCH | |
3 qts. apple cider 1/4 c. lemon juice 1/4 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed 1 red apple, unpeeled and thinly sliced (lemon can be used) 3 (3 inch) cinnamon sticks 1 tsp. allspice 1 tbsp. whole cloves 3 1/2 c. bourbon In a 6 quart kettle combine cider, lemon juice, and brown sugar. Enclose spices in cheesecloth and immerse in liquid. Heat just to boiling and simmer to flavor with spices. When ready to serve, heat again, just to boiling. Leave punch in kettle or carefully transfer into a flameproof punch bowl. Stir in apple slices (or lemon slices) and 3 cups bourbon. In a long handled ladle, gently warm remaining bourbon until vapors rise. Ignite and pour over punch, carefully. When flames substitute, ladle punch into heat proof glasses, cups or mugs. This is a great holiday beverage. |
