BOSTON BROWN BREAD 
2 c. boiling water
1 box raisins
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
2 eggs
4 c. sifted flour
1 tbsp. orange juice
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts

Pour boiling water over mixture of raisins and baking soda. Cool. Mix sugar, shortening and eggs and add to raisin mixture. Add flour. Mix well. Add juice, vanilla, salt and nuts. Put into 6 greased and floured medium-size tin cans. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 minutes. (Can vary if cans are larger or smaller.)
