1 c. butter
1 c. peanut butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. unsifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
Nuts, chocolate kisses, jam or jelly

In bowl with mixer at medium speed, beat first 6 ingredients until fluffy. At low speed, beat in next 4 ingredients. Shape into 1-inch balls; roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven for 12-15 minutes or until browned.

Immediately press nuts or candy into cookies or press with thumb and fill with jam or jelly. Cool. Store in airtight container. Makes about 4 dozen.
