CHOCOLATE ICING 
3 c. sugar
3 tbsp. cocoa (heaping)
3 tbsp. white Karo Syrup
pinch of salt
1 c. whipping cream or half and half
1/2 to 1 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix sugar and cocoa, add syrup, salt and cream. Bring to boil on medium heat. Don't stir too much, just enough to keep it from sticking. After about 10 minutes drop a small amount from spoon into water. When it forms a soft ball (not sticky) remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla. When butter melts, mix with mixer until it changes color, then mix by hand until ready to spread. Don't beat to hard. You can add a little water if it gets too hard.
