BRAN COCONUT BREAD 
2 c. flour
1 3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. allspice
8 oz. grated coconut
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 oz. cherries
1 stick butter
1 1/2 c. milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 oz. raisins
2 oz. mixed peel
2 eggs

FILLING:

1 1/2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. allspice
2 tbsp. coconut

Sift all the ingredients together in a bowl. Add sugar then beaten eggs and milk. Add melted shortening. Stir in grated coconut and fruits. Blend ingredients well. Pour into greased loaf pan. Make an inch incision in the center of each loaf. Place a small amount of the filling mixture in each loaf and cover. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
