APPLE PAN DOWDY 
3 c. apples, peeled & sliced
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt

COTTAGE PUDDING BATTER:

1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. butter, melted

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix first 5 ingredients together and bake until apples are tender, about 40 minutes. Next, sift dry ingredients; set aside. Mix the eggs, milk and butter. Stir into flour mixture. Pour this mixture over the apples. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until brown and crusty on top. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or Cool Whip.
