RAVANI (ALMOND CAKE) 
7 eggs, separated
1/2 lb. butter
1 c. sugar
3 level tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk
1 1/2 to 2 c. blanched ground almonds
3 c. cake flour, sifted

Cream together butter, sugar and egg yolks. Add baking powder, vanilla, milk and flour. Fold beaten egg whites and almonds. Bake in 350 or 375 degree oven in greased and floured pan 45 minutes to 1 hour.

SYRUP:

3 c. sugar
2 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. white Karo syrup

Boil about 5 to 10 minutes and pour over cake. Ground walnuts, pecans or shredded coconut may be used in place of almonds.
