CHRIS' BETTER BREAKFAST BARS | |
2 cups uncooked oatmeal (I use McCann's Irish Oatmeal, but any should work fine) 4 cups water (you know what that is, right?) 4 tbsp. Almond Butter (if you are allergic, can't find it, or aren't comfortable using it, by all means use peanut butter) 4 tbsp. flax (I use Bob's Red Mill) 1/2 cup finely chopped almonds (do not use a food processor here) 1/2 cup raisins 4 tbsp. 100% unsweetened cacao powder 3 tsp. cinnamon 2 tbsp. Natural Blue Agave Syrup (optional) Wash your hands thoroughly. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Bring the water to a boil and prepare the oatmeal according to the directions on the box (but it should be no more than three minutes). Let it cool for one minute (stirring cools it faster). Combine all the other ingredients in a bowl. When the oatmeal has cooled sufficiently, add it. Mix all of the ingredients together well (your hands do the best job in this instance). Line a baking sheet (or sheets, if you have them) with wax paper. Dole out and shape the mixture on the wax paper any way you like (rectangles, circles, animals, etc...) as long as they are spread out evenly and each piece is (approximately) one-quarter of an inch thick. Bake in 375°F oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Remove, let cool, and enjoy! Submitted by: Chris |
