2 sticks butter
1 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. sifted flour (all-purpose)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt

Using mixer, mix sugar and butter. Add eggs, vanilla, salt, soda and cream of tartar. Mix. Add flour. If dough is too stiff, add a little milk. Dough may be chilled before using. (I never chill the dough.)

DECORATING ICING:

1 box powdered sugar
3/4 c. Crisco
1/4 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix all together.
