1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. raisins or dates
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. sour milk
2 eggs
2 c. cubed raw apples

Sift flour over apples and raisins.

Mix in order given and bake in a 9x12 inch pan in a 350 degree oven for 40-45 minutes.
