MOM'S SCONES 
2 c. sifted flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. sugar
1/4 c. butter
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 c. buttermilk

Sift dry ingredients until crumbly. Combine egg with milk, stir into dry ingredients. Turn dough out onto board and knead slightly. Put into greased pan and mold to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into 8 pie shaped wedges. Brush with milk, sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes.
