NEW ORLEANS BREAD PUDDING 
1 loaf French bread
1 qt. milk (not low fat)
3 eggs
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. butter
1 c. raisins

Break bread into small pieces and soak in the milk until very soft. Break up any large pieces with a fork. Add beaten eggs, sugar, vanilla and raisins. Break butter into small pieces and add to pudding. Bake in buttered baking dish for about 30 minutes, or until firm, at 325 degrees. Serve warm with whiskey sauce (below).

WHISKEY SAUCE:

1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 oz. whiskey (or to taste)
