FISH STEAKS WITH HERBS 
2 lb. fish steaks or filets
6 tbsp. butter or vegetable butter
1 lg. clove garlic, split
1/3 c. chopped onion
1/4 c. tarragon
1 tbsp. parsley flakes
1/4 tsp. thyme
Dash nutmeg
Dash mace
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. lemon juice
3/4 c. fine fresh bread crumbs

Arrange steaks in a shallow baking dish. Melt butter in saucepan, add garlic and cook until tender. Remove garlic; add onion and saute without browning. Stir in remaining ingredients except bread crumbs. Spoon about half of mixture over fish. Add crumbs to remaining mixture and spread on steaks. Bake in preheated oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or more depending on thickness of steaks. Serves 4 to 6.
