GERMAN STYLE RED CABBAGE 
6 c. red cabbage, shredded
1/2 c. water
1/4 c. cider vinegar
1/2 med. apple, peeled & cubed
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt

Place all ingredients in a saucepan over moderately high heat; cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to moderately low and cook 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
