CHOCOLATE SWIRL BROWNIES
3 tbsp. butter
4 oz. German chocolate (Baker's)
2 tbsp. softened butter
3 oz. cream cheese
1/4 c. granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 eggs
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. almond extract

Melt chocolate and 3 teaspoons of butter over double boiler. Remove from heat and set aside. To prepare cream cheese mixture, in a medium bowl, cream 2 tablespoons softened butter and cream cheese until fluffy. Blend 1/4 cup sugar, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon flour and the vanilla into creamed mixture and set aside.

In another mixing bowl beat 2 eggs and add 3/4 cup sugar, continuing to beat until blended. Into the sugar-egg mixture sift the 1/2 cup flour, the baking powder and salt. Stir melted chocolate mixture, walnuts, vanilla and almond extract into sugar-egg mixture.

Spread 2/3 of chocolate mixture evenly in a greased 9 inch square pan. Over chocolate mixture spread cream cheese mixtures. Drop spoonfuls of all remaining chocolate over cream cheese mixtures and swirl. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes. Cool slightly. Cut brownies in squares to serve.
