SWEETHART CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. cake flour, sifted
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2/3 c. milk

Cream shortening, sugar, and vanilla; add eggs and beat thoroughly. Alternately add milk and flour which has been sifted with baking powder and salt. Bake at 375 degrees 30 to 35 minutes. Double this recipe for two pans.

FROSTING: (MAPLE FLAVOR):

1/4 c. soft butter
2 c. confectioners sugar
2 tbsp. evaporated milk
1 tsp. maple flavoring

Cream together butter and confectioners sugar. Then mix evaporated milk and a teaspoon of maple flavoring. Beat until smooth.
