STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE CAKE | |
1 Betty Crocker yellow cake mix 2 pt. strawberries, sliced (reserve several whole berries with stems for garnish) 8 oz. Cool Whip Strawberry preserves Prepare cake according to package directions. Pour into well greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 350-375 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Remove from oven and cool 10 minutes. Invert, then right onto large plate. Cake will only be approximately 3 inches high. When completely cooled, slice cake into 3 layers. On bottom layer, thinly spread strawberry preserves, cover with single layer of sliced berries. Repeat on middle layer. Frost cake with Cool Whip. Cake should look fluffy and "peaky". Garnish with whole berries; chill. Best if eaten same day. |
