SWEET AND SOUR PORK OR CHICKEN | |
1 1/2 lbs. pork cut in strips or chicken 2 tbsp. oil 1 chicken bouillon cube 1 can pineapple chunks 1/4 c. brown sugar 2 tbsp. cornstarch 1/4 c. vinegar 1 tbsp. soy sauce 1 med. green pepper, cut in strips 1/4 c. medium onion, thinly sliced Brown pork or chicken in hot oil. Add 1 cup water, bouillon cube, 1/4 teaspoon salt to pork or chicken, mix well. Cover and simmer until tender, about 1 hour. Drain pineapple reserving juice. Combine brown sugar and cornstarch; add juice, vinegar, and soy sauce and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Cook and stir over medium high heat until thickened and bubbly. Add sauce to pork or chicken, mix well. Stir in pineapple, green pepper and onion. Cook over low heat 2 to 3 minutes, until vegetables are tender crisp. |
