OLD FASHIONED GINGERBREAD 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. dark cane syrup or molasses
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1 c. boiling water
2 tbsp. crystalized ginger (optional)
1 c. pecans or raisins
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Add syrup, add flour, soda, salt and spices. Beat well, add water, ginger, nuts or raisins. Grease 14 x 10 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
