FRESH APPLE BREAD 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
2 c. chopped, peeled apples
1 tsp. vanilla

TOPPING:

1/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Mix in dry ingredients and vanilla. Mix in apples and nuts. Spoon into greased loaf pan. Sprinkle with topping. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. Yield: 1 loaf.
