FRESH APPLE BREAD 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. chopped apples
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift first 4 ingredients together, cream shortening and sugar, add egg. Mix. Add apples, nuts and vanilla. Add dry ingredients. Pour batter into well greased bread pan and sprinkle with topping. Turn pan on side to cool after removed from oven.

TOPPING:

1/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Oven 350 degrees 1 hour or until done.
