FRESH APPLE CAKE WITH DESSERT
SAUCE
 
4 c. peeled & thinly sliced baking apples, McIntosh preferred
2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
3/4 c. oil
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts

Stir together apples and sugar, mixing well. Mix dry ingredients separately and add to the apple mixture. Beat oil, eggs and vanilla in a small bowl and add to the apple mixture. Stir in nuts. Bake in greased 9 x 13 inch pan at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes or until cake is done. Do not overbake, cake should be very moist.

DESSERT SAUCE:

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. heavy cream

Bring to a boil over medium high heat and boil for 3 minutes. Serve warm over cake.
