GRANDMA GOLDEN'S OATMEAL
CRUNCHIES
 
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1/4 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. oats
1/4 c. walnuts

Sift together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add brown sugar, shortening, egg, vanilla and beat well. Stir in rolled oats and walnuts. Form dough into small balls, put tops in a little sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
