OATMEAL CARMELITAS 
32 caramel squares
5 tbsp. half and half
1 c. flour
1 c. quick oats
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. melted butter
6 oz. (1/2 pkg.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Melt caramels and half and half in microwave or double boiler. Cool.

Combine remaining ingredients except nuts and chocolate chips. Press 1/2 of oat mixture in 11x7 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove from oven.

Sprinkle with nuts and chocolate chips. Carefully spread the caramel mixture. Sprinkle remaining oat mixture and bake 15-20 minutes longer. Chill 1-2 hours.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
