ENGLISH MUFFINS 
1 pkg. yeast
2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. warm water
1 tsp. sugar
3 c. flour
2 tbsp. or more cornmeal

Dissolve yeast in water in large bowl. Add salt, sugar, and shortening and flour. Stir smooth and roll 1/4 inch thick. Cut with a wide mouth jar ring. (I roll my dough on the board floured with cornmeal). Place on greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise until double. Bake at 350 degrees for 7 minute each side.
