PRALINES 
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. pecans

Place above ingredients in large pot. Mix to dissolve sugar. Cook over medium heat - mixture will turn brown in soft ball stage. Stir constantly. When mixture reaches soft ball stage, remove from heat and beat until it becomes glossy and starts to crystalize. Quickly spoon out in little patties on waxed paper. Cool. If candy hardens too soon, return to heat to soften, spoon out again.
