GRANDMA JOHNSON'S DATE - FILLED
COOKIES
 
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
1 c. Crisco
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. hot water
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour

Roll and cut with cookie cutter.

FILLING:

1/2 lb. dates
1/2 c. white sugar
1 c. water

Cook filling until thick. Put filling in 1/2 of cookie; fold other half over. Seal and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 350 degrees.
