1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 can (1 lb.) whole cranberry sauce
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves

Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg; beat until smooth. Add vanilla and cranberry sauce. Sift flour with soda and spices; add to cranberry mixture. Add nuts. Bake at 350 degrees in greased and floured pans.

FROSTING:

1 stick soft butter
2 tsp. vanilla
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 box powdered sugar, sifted

May have to add 1-2 tablespoons milk.
