HOT CROSS BUNS 
1 c. warm milk
1/2 c. sugar
3 tbsp melted butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 egg, well beaten
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
3 tbsp. milk

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Mix together milk, sugar, butter, salt, yeast and egg. Add flour, cinnamon, raisins and cloves; mix well. Grease hands with butter or oil and knead the dough. Cover the bowl with a cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1/2 hour. Form dough into 8 round balls for about 1/2 hour. Form dough into 8 round balls the size of your fist and place on greased cookie sheet. Let the dough rise another 1/2 hour. Brush the top of each bun lightly with water.
