1 1/4 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
3 eggs
2 tbsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
2 1/2 c. chocolate chips
1 1/2 c. nuts

Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy (5 minutes). Add eggs, vanilla and salt, beat 5 more minutes. Sift flour, soda and baking powder. Add to first mixture, stirring by hand. Mix well. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop batter by generous tablespoons on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
