3/4 c. white sugar
3/4 c. milk
1 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. boiling water

Mix white sugar, flour and baking powder with milk. Add dates and nuts. Pour this mixture into a greased 9" square pan. Then combine brown sugar, butter, vanilla and boiling water and carefully pour over batter mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Turn off heat and leave in oven for 15 more minutes. Serve with whipped cream. Will serve 9.
