POPPYSEED BABKA | |
1 cup wheat flour almost full cup of potato starch 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened 1 cup sugar 4 eggs 1 cup poppyseed 1 1/2 tbsp. baking powder 1/3 cup milk almond extract or oil Preheat oven to 300°F. Start by mixing the butter (it can't be right out of the fridge since it won't break, let it get warm for 3-4 hours) until it has a creamy consistency. Add eggs, sugar, potato starch and wheat flour combined with baking powder. Pour milk and add poppyseed as well as some almond flavoring. Put the mass into a form, previously greased and dredged with breadcrumbs. Note: As in making any bread, add flour if the dough is sticky, or liquid if the dough is dry until you have the right consistency. Bake at 300°F for 50 minutes. Submitted by: Daniel |
