2 c. flour
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. sour milk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. allspice
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. walnuts

Mix together 2 cups flour, 1 cup butter and 1 cup sugar. Save 1 cup of this mixture for frosting. To the rest of the mixture add all the other ingredients. Sprinkle frosting over top and bake in a moderate oven.
