TIMBER TREATS (DOG BONES) 
1 c. whole wheat flour
1 c. white flour
1/2 c. wheat germ
1/2 c. powdered milk
6 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. brown sugar
1 dong bone cookie cutter

Combine dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Beat sugar and egg and add to dry mixture with water. Knead. Roll out 1/2 inch thick and cut using dog bone cookie cutter. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes or until firm. Cool on a rack for 1 hour. Can be frozen.

Great for holidays or just every day treats. Any cookie cutter shape will do, be creative.

I have used this same recipe for a few years now. Only thing I do a little differently is I add quite a bit of water to make the dough soft enough to push through a cookie press. They look nice, plus perfect size for a small treat. (Baking time quite reduced as well)
