SWEET POTATO AND APPLE LAYERS 
3/4 lb. raw sweet potatoes
2 sm. apples
About 2 oz. raisins (lg. handful)
3/4 c. sugar
2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tbsp. butter
3/4 c. water
Little cinnamon

Peel sweet potatoes; slice 1/4 inch thick. Soak in water to prevent discoloring. Slice apples thinly. Butter a flat-bottomed pot and layer apples, potato, raisins, butter, sugar and salt, 2 layers of each. Add water. Put sheet of waxed paper over food so it touches it. Cover, cook over medium heat 20-25 minutes. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
