GRANNY'S BREAD PUDDING
1/2 gallon milk
4 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
4 eggs
1 loaf bread (white or wheat)
1 box raisins
1 tbsp. lemon extract
2 tsp. vanilla extract

Beat eggs first, pour milk into large saucepan. Add eggs to cold milk, mix well, heat at medium temperature. Once mixture gets hot add sugar, stir until dissolved, then add butter (soft, room temperature). Stir occasionally. While this is cooking, break bread into quarters and layer in 9 x 11 square pan. Layer bread and raisins; bread and raisins. Once the butter has mixed well in mixture allow this custard to cook long enough to thicken slightly. Remove from heat and add flavor. Pour custard over bread and bake at 350 degrees for approximately 45 minutes (until done and golden brown).
