SOUR CREAM POUND CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 3/4 c. sugar
6 eggs
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. lemon or vanilla flavoring

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with sour cream. Add flavoring. Pour into big tube pan, lined with paper and greased. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Check at 1 hour.

FROSTING (optional) :

2 c. confectioners sugar
1/4 tsp. lemon flavoring
Few drops hot water

Add water very slowly to get thick but pourable consistency. Frost bottom (turn cake upside down) and allow frosting to drip down sides. Use candied cherries, if desired, for decorating.
