KARLA'S GUMDROP CAKE | |
4 c. flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/4 tsp. cloves 1 lb. white raisins 1 lb. gumdrops (no black) 1/4 tsp. salt 1 c. nuts 1 c. butter 2 c. sugar 2 eggs, beaten 1 1/2 c. applesauce 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tbsp. hot water 1 tsp. vanilla Sift and measure flour; add spices and salt. Set aside. Cut up gumdrops and nuts; add some of the flour mixture and set aside. Cream butter and sugar. Add beaten eggs and mix well. Alternate and add flour and applesauce to creamed mixture. Dissolve soda in hot water and add to creamed mix; add vanilla. Add raisins, gumdrops and nuts; mix well. Pour into 2 to 3 bread pans with brown paper, greased. Bake 2 hours at 300 degrees. If glass pans are used, do not grease or line and bake at 275 degrees for 2 hours. |
