DANISH PASTRY APPLE BARS 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
2 egg yolks
1 c. cornflakes
8-10 tart apples, sliced
3/4-1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 egg whites

Mix flour and salt, cut in shortening. Beat egg yolks - add enough milk to make 2/3 cup liquid. Mix well. Stir into flour mixture. Form dough. Roll half into 17 x 12 inch rectangle. Fit dough into and up sides of 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 inch cookie sheet.

Sprinkle with cornflakes. Top with apple slices. Mix sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle on top. Roll out remaining dough, seal edges, cut slits. Beat egg whites until frothy and brush on crust. Drizzle glaze and cut into bars. 36-42 bars

GLAZE:

1 cup powdered sugar and 5 teaspoons milk.
