GRANDMA K'S AMERICAN CHILI 
1 med. or lg. onion
1/2 green or red pepper, finely chopped
3/4 lb. hamburger
1 can tomatoes
1 sm. can tomato paste
1 can red kidney beans
1 or 2 fresh carrots, chopped or thinly sliced (optional)
1 to 1 1/2 tbsp. chili powder
Salt and pepper to taste

Saute onions and peppers in butter in Teflon pan until slightly brown. Add hamburger. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, carrots, and beans. Bring to boil. Add chili powder, salt, and pepper to taste. You may want more chili powder. Simmer for 1/2 hour, stirring occasionally. You may serve over rice or elbow macaroni. This recipe can be doubled and frozen for a quick meal later.
