CHEESE APPLES 
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. all - purpose flour
1/4 c. butter
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
7 med. tart apples, peeled and sliced (Granny Smith apples are best)
6 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. lemon juice

Combine sugar, salt and flour. Cut in butter until coarse crumbs form. Mix in cheese and set aside. Combine apples, water and lemon juice; toss lightly. Spoon into greased 8 inch square casserole dish. Sprinkle cheese mixture over apples and pat down gently. Bake at 350 degrees 40 minutes. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
