OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
3 c. oats
1 (6 oz.) bag chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350°F. Cream together shortening and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Sift together flour, salt and soda; add to creamed mixture. Mix in oats and chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes.

Makes 5 dozen.
