WONDERFUL WHITE BREAD 
2 c. milk
4 tbsp. sugar
4 tsp. salt
5 tbsp. shortening
2 c. water
2 pkgs. yeast
12 c. flour

Heat milk until scalded. Stir in sugar, salt and shortening until dissolved. Heat water until lukewarm. Add yeast. Combine yeast mixture to milk mixture. Stir in 6 cups of flour. Beat until smooth. Add the rest of the flour. Beat until smooth.

Knead 5-10 minutes until it's elastic to the touch. Let rise 1 1/2 hours. Divide into 4 parts. Place each one in a greased loaf pan. Let rise until doubled. Bake 30 minutes at 400 degrees. Cool a few minutes and remove from pans. Spread tops of loaves with melted butter. Makes 4 loaves.
