BATTER FOR ONION RINGS, SHRIMP,
VEGETABLES
 
1 1/3 c. self-rising flour
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper
3/4 c. flat beer
1 tbsp. cooking oil
2 egg whites, beaten stiff

Mix flour, salt, pepper, cooking oil, beer and stir well. Refrigerate, covered for several hours. Just before using, fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Dip onion rings, or whatever, into batter and fry in HOT deep oil until brown. Brown on paper towel.
