CREAMY RAISIN ICING 
1/2 c. shortening (part butter)
2 1/2 tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
3 c. sifted powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. raisins
1 jar maraschino cherries
2/3 c. nuts

Melt shortening; remove from heat. Blend in flour and salt. Slowly add milk. Boil 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add slowly the powdered sugar and vanilla. Add raisins. Beat until thick enough to spread. Add cherries and nuts. A good icing for spice layer cake.
